The 20th Century was principally shaped by the oil economy. Governments invested billions on highways and roads, our people built Holdens and Chryslers and we drove our cars to our homes in the suburbs.
The technological revolution continues to shape a new economy that will dramatically change South Australia’s urban environments, institutions and society. As the new economy emerges, how might we create the right conditions and partnerships for South Australians and the planet?
Will we continue to see local start-ups and small to medium sized companies thrive or will new global leaders such as Google or Amazon dominate? Do we need one or the other or all to prosper? What happens to our values and ability to control our local economy, urban environments and society if we have to give everything away?
Building upon Being South Australia, Smart Cities and Entrepreneurial State conversations in 2017, we have some fantastic guest speakers provoking discussion about:
- the public and private sector investments we need to make
- the partnerships we need to build
- the conditions we need to create and the values, ethics and culture we need to nurture for Adelaide and South Australia to thrive as a new economy.
AIUS SA President Trish Hansen, will host conversations with our leading guest speakers.
